Grand Tour of n.b. Hailey Wood and n.b. Sorrel, 1999

Part 18.

Back

23 year-old Hailey Wood had performed magnificently, and her BMC engine of totally unknown vintage had run continuously for five solid hours without a break, and with not a single murmur or hiccup. The 20 mile journey from Limehouse to Teddington, which we had expected to last 5 hours, had not taken 3 - either the tide was faster than we thought, or HW was enjoying herself!

A very wet but happy skipper!

Sorrel caught us up just after the lock, having arrived just too late to fit in the same locking as HW.

Sorrel leaving Teddington Lock.

We then made our way to Thames Ditton, where we had booked moorings for the few days of our "Eclipse break".

The sun was now out in full glory, so the walk to Surbiton station next morning, laden down with washing for the machine at home, was a mile of staggering, sunburning torture! The attractive and well-kept station at Surbiton.
